State government must be accountable and accessible to its taxpayers. Reform is necessary to restore the public’s trust in our government. The members of this task force are dedicated to creating a more accountable, responsive and efficient Pennsylvania government.
The scope of this task force is far reaching. The task force continues to look at areas of fraud and abuse and has developed various packages that range from election reform to procurement to transparency. In addition, the members of the task force have spent a great deal of time concentrating on the teacher and state employee pension issue. In the past few months they have met with all stakeholders involved and held public hearings in order to gain an understanding of this complex system.
The Government Reform Task Force:
- Will continue to look at ways the Pennsylvania Legislature can provide a government which is more efficient, more effective and more accountable to the people it represents.
- Plans to abolish the “business as usual” attitude that has become the norm in Harrisburg by addressing issues of waste, fraud and abuse
